Interstates and Highways
U.S. Highways 63 and 18 and Iowa Highway 24 intersect at New Hampton. New Hampton is approximately 20 miles from U.S. Highway 218/Avenue of the Saints, a four-lane, north-south corridor connecting Minneapolis-St. Paul to St. Louis.





Motor Freight
30 national and regional trucking companies serve New Hampton area businesses on a daily basis. New Hampton Transfer and Storage is a local delivery trucking company that serves Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota.


Rail
New Hampton is served by Iowa Chicago and Eastern Railroad. Iowa's 130,000-mile freight transportation system includes an extensive railroad network. While rail accounts for only 3 percent of the freight network, it carries 37 percent of Iowa's freight tonnage. A great variety of commodities ranging from fresh food to textiles to optical products are moved by rail. The railroad network performs an important role in moving bulk commodities produced and consumed in the state to local processors, livestock feeders, river terminals and ports for foreign export.




Barge
New Hampton is located about 1 hour from ports located on the Mississippi River. Terminals along the rivers handle all types of products by barge, rail or truck. Some of the products transferred are: steel products, lumber, paper, iron ore, grain and other dry and liquid products transportation.


Air
Commercial air service is available at the Waterloo Municipal Airport just a short 45 minute drive from New Hampton. For corporate aircraft, our local businesses utilize the Charles City Municipal Airport located within 20 minutes of community; the airport has a 4,000 foot runway to accommodate corporate jets. The New Hampton Airport has a 2,900 foot runway providing service for smaller private planes.
