U.S. Highways 63 and 18 and Iowa Highway 24 intersect at New Hampton.
New Hampton is approximately 20 miles from U.S. Highway 218/Avenue of
the Saints, a four-lane, north-south corridor connecting Minneapolis-St.
Paul to St. Louis.
30 national and regional trucking companies serve New Hampton area businesses
on a daily basis. New Hampton Transfer
and Storage is a local delivery trucking company that serves Iowa,
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota.
New Hampton is served by Iowa Chicago and Eastern Railroad. Iowa's 130,000-mile
freight transportation system includes an extensive railroad network.
While rail accounts for only 3 percent of the freight network, it carries
37 percent of Iowa's freight tonnage. A great variety of commodities ranging
from fresh food to textiles to optical products are moved by rail. The
railroad network performs an important role in moving bulk commodities
produced and consumed in the state to local processors, livestock feeders,
river terminals and ports for foreign export.

New Hampton is located about 1 hour from ports located on the
Mississippi River. Terminals along the rivers handle all types of
products by barge, rail or truck. Some of the products transferred
are: steel products, lumber, paper, iron ore, grain and other dry
and liquid products transportation.
