NICC Offers Garden Art: Making a Leaf Casting

Posted: Mon, May 2, 2016
New Hampton—Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) is offering "Garden Art: Making a Leaf Casting" on Wednesday, June 8 & 15 at 6:30 pm at the Becky Schoenfeld Residence. Leaf Casting - the use of real foliage as a concrete mold - is a creative process that captures the organic beauty of nature in a durable piece of art. In addition to attractiveness, when filled with water, a cast leaf basin attracts birds and other wildlife. During the first session, students will choose from a variety of leaf types and pour their castings to dry and cure until the second session. The following week, the cast basins are resealed and students paint them for outdoor use. A $30 supply fee is due to the instructor at the first session. Course fee is $19.

For more information or to register for "Garden Art: Making a Leaf Casting" (#46984) visit www.nicc.edu/solutions or call NICC Business and Community Solutions at (800) 728-2256 ext. 399
