The City of New Hampton enforces a zoning ordinance for the purpose of protecting health, welfare, and public safety inside the city, as well as the unincorporated area within two miles of the corporate limits. The City’s Zoning Administrators are responsible for many different areas, including the issuance of permits for buildings, signs, fences, demolition of structures and flood plain development as well as daily zoning and subdivision administration. The Zoning Administrators works with the general public, contractors, and developers on a daily basis to answer questions about the City’s codes and ordinances, issuing permits, inspecting projects, and responding to and investigating zoning and nuisance complaints.
