New Hampton Community School District

The New Hampton Community School District consists of approximately 1,420 students in grades K-12. Our community is committed to expanding educational services so our students are better prepared to succeed in an ever-changing world.

The school district offers an early childhood program for three, four and five year old children. The Learning Center and the Preschool Development programs have been very successful and well received by the parents and community.

The elementary school (PK-5) has an average pupil-teacher ratio of 17-24:1. Pupil/teacher ratios in most classes at the middle school (6-8) and high school (9-12) range from 18-25:1.

St. Joseph Community School

St. Joseph Community School is a regional Catholic K-8 school serving parishes in New Hampton and the surrounding areas. The mission of St. Joseph Community School is to provide systematic training of the child's spiritual, intellectual, social, cultural, and physical development through instruction, discipline, and guidance.

Accredited by the Iowa Department of Education, St. Joseph Community School meets all state requirements and employs highly qualified teachers and staff. With an enrollment of approximately 200, the school adheres to the philosophy of teaching the whole child. To meet these needs, students in grades first through eighth are multi-aged in order to facilitate groupings according to appropriate academic levels, social needs and other factors. In kindergarten through fourth grade the average student/teacher ratio is 16:1. Student/teacher ratio in fifth through eighth grade is 14:1.

Sunrise Preschool is a part of the St. Joseph Community School.  Sunrise offers early childhood education for three, four, and five year old children.  Sunrise is a nondenominational school with a Christian based message that offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
St. Joseph Community School also offers Kidzone. Kidzone is a before and after school as well as summer childcare program for school-aged kids (3 & up). It is open to anyone in the New Hampton community with bussing being provided to those at the public school. It opens at 7:00 in the morning until school time and reopens after school until 5:30. There are many different activities that the students may participate in while at Kidzone ranging from electronics to puzzles to outside play.
