The City Council of the City of New Hampton met in regular session in the Council Chambers at 112 East Spring Street, New Hampton Iowa at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 4, 2022. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schwickerath at 7:00 p.m. Council members present were Boos, Denner, Humpal, McDonald, Fisher. Daly was absent. Also in attendance were Zachary Nosbisch, Casey Mai and City Attorney Todd Prichard (via telephone).

Moved by Boos, seconded by Denner; That the agenda be approved as presented. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Motion carried.

Moved by Denner, seconded by McDonald; That the minutes of the regular council meeting of March 21, 2022, be approved. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Motion carried.

Moved by McDonald, seconded by Fisher; That the claims in the amount of $45,862.60 be approved. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Motion carried.

Moved by Denner, seconded by Fisher That the liquor license renewal for Rancho Viejo Mexican Restaurant, Inc #LC0040761 and renewal and ownership updates for Casey’s General Store #LE0003072, be approved. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Motion carried.

Police Chief Zachary Nosbisch is requesting to order a 2022/2023 Chevy Tahoe for the police department. Due to the shortage of production of vehicles, there is concern that the delivery of a new vehicle may be delayed indefinitely. Chevrolet is offering on May 5th a 36 hour ordering timeline and Nosbisch would like to place the order for a 2022/2023 Chevy Tahoe during this timeframe. Delivery on this vehicle will not take place until 2023. The City of New Hampton is not obligated to purchase this vehicle when delivered if plans have changed. Moved by Boos, seconded by McDonald; To authorize Police Chief Zach Nosbisch to order a Chevy Tahoe during the May 5th, 2022, 36 hour ordering deadline, be approved. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Motion carried.

Public Works Director Casey Mai presented prices on new truck purchases from Vern Laures Auto Center, specifically a 2022 Chevy Silverado. Mai would also like to place an order during the 36 hour ordering timeline starting May 5th. The prices are state bid price. The City of New Hampton is not obligated to purchase this vehicle when delivered if plans have changed. Moved by McDonald, seconded by Fisher; That Resolution No. 6509 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT TRUCK BID FOR TWO PUBLIC WORKS TRUCKS FROM VERN LAURES AUTO CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF $37,280.56 EACH, be approved. Ayes – Boos, Denner, Fisher, Humpal, McDonald. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Resolution approved.

Public Works Director Casey Mai shared with the council information regarding obtaining a Beacon website specifically for the City of New Hampton. Mai discussed the possibilities with the Chickasaw County Assessor. The website will allow data to be centralized by parcel located on one website. Information that can be included is easements, zoning overlay, ward maps and all utility service lines. Mai will continue to work with Beacon to finalize their quote for the city. He will keep the Council informed on this issue.

Moved by Fisher, seconded by Humpal; That the following minutes and correspondence be accepted and place on file. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – Daly. Motion carried.
