The City Council of the City of New Hampton met in Special session in the Council Chambers at 112 East Spring Street, New Hampton Iowa at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Geerts at 7:00 p.m. Council members present were Denner (via Telephone) nu, Kiffel, Larsen, McGrath, Schwickerath, Speltz. Also in attendance were City Attorney Todd Prichard, Casey Mai, Tammy Robinson, Kyle Anderson, Jake Hackman, Ryan Schawver, Roger Stansbery and Bob Fenske.

Moved by Larsen, seconded by Schwickerath; that the agenda be approved as presented. Ayes – Six. Nays – None. Absent – None. Motion carried.

7:00 PUBLIC HEARING FOR LEVY RATE FOR FY2026

Mayor Geerts announced now is the time and place fixed for the public hearing on the Property Tax Levy proposed for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. The Council investigated and found that the time and the place of the hearing had in accordance with the law and as directed by the City Council been published in the New Hampton Tribune on the 26th day of March 2026 in New Hampton, Chickasaw County.

Mayor Geerts asked for oral comments. There were no public comments. City Clerk Karen Clemens explained the specifics of the proposed levies for FY2027.

Mayor Geerts asked for written comments. There were none.

Moved by McGrath, seconded by Larsen; that the meeting adjourns at 7:07 pm. Ayes –Six. Nays – None. Absent – None. Motion carried.
