The City Council of the City of New Hampton met in regular session in the Council Chambers on Monday, February 17, 2020 at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Schwickerath at 7:00 p.m. Council members present were Kuhn, McDonald, Perkins, Boos, Denner and Diiro. Zachary Nosbisch, Tm Angell, Emma Schwickerath, Nathan Shatek, Emily Halder and City Attorney Kevin Kennedy were also present.

Moved by Perkins, seconded by Diiro; The agenda be approved as presented. Ayes-Six. Nays-None. Absent – None. Motion carried.

Moved by Diiro, seconded by Boos; That the minutes of the February 4, 2020 regular Council meeting minutes be approved. Ayes-Six. Nays-None. Motion carried.

Moved by Perkins, seconded by Denner; That claims in the amount of $135,112.68 be approved. Ayes-Six. Nays-None. Motion carried.

City Clerk Karen Clemens shared with the council the list of Hotel/Motel Tax grant recipients. Moved by Perkins, seconded by Diiro; the list of recipients for the 2020 Hotel/Motel Tax grants, be approved. Ayes-Six. Nays- None. Motion carried.

City Clerk Karen Clemens share with the council the request of Jendro Sanitation to increase the recycling fee according to the 2019 Consumer Price Index increase of 2.3%. The Council requested Clemens review the solid waste fund activity to determine if the cost increase should be passed on to residents or absorbed by balance in the fund. Clemens will present the information at the March 2, 2020 council meeting.

City Attorney Kevin Kennedy reported on the Board of Adjustment meeting held for Nathan Shatek. The Board of Adjustment approved the variance for height and included a stipulation that all buildings on the property be matching in color by February 2021.

Moved by Perkins, seconded by Kuhn, That the Finance Reports for January, 2020 be approved. Ayes – Six. Nays – None. Motion carried.

Moved by Kuhn , seconded by McDonald; Approving the application of Sullivan Development Inc. for Tax Exemption under the city-wide Urban Revitalization Plan for New Hampton and authorizing the Mayor to sign the application and forward to the County Assessor, be approved. Ayes-Six. Nays-None. Motion carried.

Moved by Perkins, seconded by Denner; That the following be accepted and placed on file:
