The City Council of the City of New Hampton met in regular session in the Council Chambers on Monday, February 4, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Larsen at 7:00 p.m. Council members present were Diiro, Kuhn, Perkins, Carey and Denner. McDonald was absent. Zachary Nosbisch, Courtney Lechtenberg and Tammy Robinson were also present.

Moved by Carey, seconded by Kuhn; That the agenda be approved as presented. Ayes-Five. Nays-None. Absent – McDonald. Motion carried.

Moved by Perkins, seconded by Diiro; That the minutes of the January 21, 2019 regular Council meeting be approved. Ayes-Five. Nays-None. Absent – McDonald. Motion carried.
Moved by Denner, seconded by Perkins; That claims in the amount of $117,050.03 be approved. Ayes-Five. Nays-None. Absent – McDonald. Motion carried.

Moved by Kuhn, seconded by Carey; That Resolution No 6384 TO SUSPEND THE STATUTORY RULE REQUIRING AN ORDINANCE TO BE CONSIDERED AND VOTED ON FOR PASSAGE AT THE ONE COUNCIL MEETINGS PRIOR TO THE MEETING AT WHICH IT IS TO BE FINALLY PASSED.

The role call resulted as follows: Ayes- Diiro, Kuhn, Perkins, Carey and Denner. Nays-None. Absent-McDonald Resolution passed.

Moved by Perkins, seconded by Carey; That Ordinance #869 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE NEW HAMPTON MUNICIPAL COMMUNICATIONS UTILITY, receive its final consideration. The roll call resulted as follows: Ayes – Diiro, Kuhn, Perkins, Carey and Denner. Nays – None. Absent – McDonald. Mayor Larsen ordered Ordinance #869 duly adopted.

Maggie Johnson, representative from the Relay for Life Committee submitted a request for several items for the Relay for Life Celebration on May 30, 2019. Moved by Denner, seconded by Perkins; That the following items be approved:

  • Block off North Walnut Avenue between Main Street and Prospect Street from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2019
  • Put luminary bags from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the sidewalks on North Walnut Avenue, West Prospect Street, North Chestnut Avenue and Main Street
  • Tie purple ribbons on the street light poles on Main Street from May 22, 2019 to June 7, 2019
  • Put up two tents on North Walnut Street
  • Put Relay For Life banners on the Main Street light pole posts in May and take down following the event

Ayes – Five. Nays- None. Absent – McDonald. Motion carried.

Moved by Carey, seconded by Diiro; That Resolution No. 6385 A RESOLUTION TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING FOR MARCH 4, 2019 TO HEAR CITIZEN COMMENTS ON THE PROPOSED 2019-2020 FISCAL YEAR BUDGET, be approved. Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – McDonald. Resolution passed.

Moved by Kuhn, seconded by Diiro; That the following be accepted and placed on file:

  1. Committee as a Whole Minutes of January 28, 2019

Ayes – Five. Nays – None. Absent – McDonald. Motion carried.

Moved by Denner, seconded by Kuhn; That the meeting adjourn at 7:08 p.m. Ayes-Five. Nays-None. Absent-McDonald. Motion carried.
